Dr.everyone Founders

Stephane Marceau - Co-founder and Chariman

Stéphane co-founded DrEveryone in 2008 after a frustrating experience. He wanted to help a family member in making a critical health decision. The person was recently diagnosed with an aggressive prostate cancer. Doctors and health professionals recommended different treatments and surgeries to deal with the newfound disease. After scouring the Internet for days, Stéphane could not simply and clearly answer the fundamental question: what worked and what did not work for people like his friend?.

Stéphane has been building and growing mobile and web businesses for over 15 years, both as an entrepreneur and as executive for leading corporations. He is now Chief Marketing Officer for The Yellow Pages Group, Canada’s leading Internet and Directory Company. He is also founder and Chairman of Theralive, a mobile health platform company funded by a leading mobile carrier. He co-founded and was CEO of Mobivox, a global mobile platform. He previously served as Vice-President with Bell Canada for over five years, where he built several new business lines, including Bell Interactive, the online group as well as the consumer VoIP service. Stéphane served as VP and head of several different groups within the company - consumer strategy, e-commerce, online SME markets and led several acquisitions and partnerships. Prior to his time at Bell Canada, he advised wireless and telecom companies in Western Europe, the U.S. and Canada on Internet strategy and technology related opportunities. Stéphane also serves on the boards of several Montreal-based web startups.

Stéphane holds a Master's degree in Management of Technology from the University of Waterloo and a BA in Finance from the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Greg Zaric - Co-founder and CEO

Greg co-founded Dr. Everyone in 2008 after talking to Stephane about his recent frustrating experiences in determining appropriate care options for a family member. There is a wealth of information on the internet and in scientific literature about the effectiveness of different treatment options, yet somehow it is not communicated effectively. There must be a better way for people to answer the questions “What works? And What Doesn’t work?”

For the last 10 years Greg has been a faculty member at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Western Ontario, and a member of the Toronto Health Economics and Technology Assessment Collaborative at the University of Toronto.

At Ivey Greg has taught in the HBA, MBA and PhD programs. He has won two of Ivey’s top teaching awards, the David G. Burgoyne Award, as chosen by students in the HBA program, and the Lawrence Tapp Award, as chosen by students in the MBA program. His research uses operations research and economics techniques to investigate the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of health care programs. His research program has been funded by numerous grants and awards including a Premier’s Research Excellence Award and a prestigious Canada Research Chair.

Greg holds a PhD and MS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University; a Masters in Management Science from the University of Waterloo; and a BSc in Actuarial Sciences from the University of Western Ontario.

Bo Woloshyn
- Co-founder and Managing Director

Bo has always been interested in how we can treat health issues and make ourselves as healthy as possible. Although he has been very fortunate to be blessed with great health, he has had first hand experience in the frustration of seeking practical health advice for his family members. His wife is a cancer survivor and his son suffers from bi-polar disorder. He sees the Dr.everyone site as a way of empowering us all with the collective wisdom of what works in treating health problems and achieving health goals.

Bo’s extensive business successes span from the design and implementation of traditional mass marketing, media and communication strategies to the development of leading-edge e-marketing technologies. He has launched and operated several start-up enterprises, ranging from hi-tech products, e-learning services to a digital marketing agency.

Bo has acted in a variety of senior management roles in both the information technology and marketing services industry. He served as Executive Vice President of Dataline Inc. (a computer services company servicing the financial industry) and was instrumental in the market expansion of these services throughout North America and Europe. Bo also held positions as Chief Marketing Officer with InfoCast Corp. (e-enabling business solutions), pg(e) inc. (digital marketing services) and Workshoplive.com (on-line music lessons). Bo was the Chief Operating Officer of a small award winning e-marketing agency, N5R.com, implementing social networking strategies and new media marketing campaigns for North America’s leading brands.

Bo holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Jesse Shantz - Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer

Jesse joined the Dr. everyone team at its inception after a conversation with Stephane and Greg. He saw that these two entrepreneurs were interested in finding a new paradigm for patient-centred outcomes through social networking. Jesse, a medical doctor and orthopedic surgery trainee, had always believed that a doctor's visit didn't contain answers to all the important questions patients had about their health. That belief was further confirmed after Jesse saw things from the other side, as a surgical patient, just before joining Dr. everyone.

Jesse performed basic science research for a large vitamin producer just after finishing a degree in biochemistry. He then completed his medical degree at the Schulich School of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario, the birthplace of Patient-Centred Learning (PCL). After moving to Winnipeg to start a residency in Orthopedic Surgery Jesse returned to London and completed a Health Sector-Focused MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business, graduating as the valedictorian. It was in London that Jesse joined the Dr. Everyone team. He continues to participate actively in the site while finishing his medical studies.
